Altit Fort is an ancient fort above Karimabad in the Hunza valley in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. It was originally home to the hereditary rulers of the
Hunza state who carried the title Mir, although they moved to the somewhat younger Baltit fort nearby three centuries later. Altit Fort and in particular the Shikari tower is around 1100 years old which makes it the oldest monument in the Gilgit–Baltistan.
The Altit Fort was in great disrepair, but has recently been restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture Historic Cities Support Programme and the Government of Norway. It is characterized by small rooms and low portals with exquisite wood carvings. Japan has contributed to the renovation of the surrounding old village. Altit Fort is a tourist site which has been open to the public since 2007.
The beautiful Valley and its isolated language. Where every soul is singing their own symphony. Every one think as high as their mountains does. As hospitable as written in The Holy Divine Books in the world. So beautiful Hunza is, reason that it bears name of "Heaven on Earth".

History of Hunza Valley & Kingdom
Hunza was formerly a princely state bordering China to the north-east and Pamir to its north-west, which continued to survive until 1974, when it was finally dissolved by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The state bordered the Gilgit Agency to the south, the former princely state of Nagar to the east. The state capital was the town of Baltit (also known as Karimabad) and its old settlement is Ganish Village.
Hunza was an independent principality for more than 900 years. The British gained control of Hunza and the neighbouring valley of Nagar between 1889 and 1892 followed by a military engagement of severe intensity. The ruler of Hunza (Prince) Mir Safdar Ali Khan of Hunza fled to Kashghar in China and sought political asylum there, while British apponted Mir Jamal Khan as the new Mir of Hunza under the rule of British Government

HUNZA PEAK & LADY FINGER
Hunza Peak lies in the westernmost subrange of the Karakoram range in Pakistan, along with the Ladyfinger Peak (Bublimating). It lies on the southwest ridge of the Ultar Sar massif, the most southeasterly of the major groups of the Batura Muztagh. The whole massif rises precipitously above the Hunza Valley to the southeast.
Bublimating, while having little prominence above the saddle with nearby Hunza Peak, is particularly notable for being a sharp, relatively snowless rock spire
among snow peaks.

Rakaposhi (Räkapoşi), is a mountain in the Karakoram It is situated in the Nagar Valley approximately 100 km north of the city of Gilgit in the Gilgit District of the Gilgit–Baltistan
province of Pakistan. Rakaposhi means "Snow Covered" in the local
language. Rakaposhi is also known as Dumani ("Mother of Mist"). It is

Appricot Time:
From the land of the Hunza in northern Pakistan, where people routinely live busy lives well over the age of one hundred. The kernal of this small, sweet fruit is the primary source of oil for the Hunza, and many claims are made concerning its properties.
Kernals must be roasted or otherwise cooked before eating. The Hunza leave the fruit on the tree to dry before harvesting, but we can't recommend this method for those of us in wetter climates! The flesh of the fruit, when cooked, has a deep toffee flavor. Self fertile. Not likely to produce well in maritime climates.

Wildlife Gilgit-Baltistan
Introduction to Wildlife Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit-Baltistan without
any doubt can be termed as living museum for wildlife. Varieties of
wild animals & birds like Marcopolo Sheep, Ibex, Markhore, Urial,
Blue Sheep, Lynx, Snow leopard, brown and Black bears, Wolf, Fox,
Marmote, Chakor, Rame Chakor. One of the rare species Tibetan wild
ass is also found in Shimshall valley of upper Hunza. All these
resources are being managed for their survival and multiplication
through establishment of National Parks, Game Sanctuaries and Game
Reserves community conserved areas. The Gilgit-Baltistan Government
has declared nine community controlled hunting areas in the past
jointly managed by the communities, International NGOs and the
Gilgit-Baltistan Government.
Owing to the vast potential of the area, the wildlife Division of
Forest Department Gilgit-Baltistan had initiated trophy hunting
programme in collaboration with the International NGOs, like AKRSP,
IUCN, WWF & concerned communities with the objective to provide
incentives in shape of income from suitable management introducing
participatory approach on experimental basis in the year 1993.
Lessons learned from the participatory approach, it can safely be
concluded that the population of wild animals is on the increase
despite various natural calamities peculiar to the fragile mountain
eco-system of Gilgit-Baltistan. From comparison of population
dynamics of the past, we are confident that the trophy-hunting
programme is paying its worth in term of success in conservation of
biodiversity.
